Process for Copper Alloy Powder

Copper-based Alloy Powder at Unique Bimetals is produced by Hydra Atomization process. Copper, Lead, Tin etc., in the form of virgin metals are melted down and disintegrated into fine droplets by means of a high velocity atomizing medium. The metal droplets cool and solidify as they settle at the bottom of the atomization tank. The slurry is transferred to a dual cone drier for drying. The dried powder is sieved to get the required distribution of particles and blended to get a homogeneous mixture.

Process for Bimetal Strips

Cold rolled steel coils are degreased and surface activated in steel preparation line. Over the surface prepared steel, Leaded Copper alloy powder is evenly spread and passed through sintered furnace under protective atmosphere and rolled to variable densities.

Testing and Quality Control

We ensure the quality of our products by following the stringent quality control. All our products undergoes the quality testing. We perform Brinell & Rockwell superficial tests.

Rockwell superficial tests consists of forcing an indentor (Diamond or Ball) into the surface of a test piece in two steps i.e. first with preliminary test force and thereafter with additional test force and then measuring depth of indentation after removal of additional test force (Remaining preliminary test force active) for measurement of hardness value.

Brinell test consists of forcing a hardened ball into surface of a test piece with a specified test-force and measuring the diameter of indentation for evaluation of Brinell hardness number.

We have the following Testing Equipments

Hardness Testers

we have two kinds of hardness testers in our company. Vickers Hardness Tester is a simple and accurate means to produce and measure the diamond indentation. These testers are suitable for measuring the hardness of precision metallic parts with wide testing range - from soft to hard and their accurate results are widely acclaimed. These testers strictly conform to IS 1754 and ISO 6507-2.

Hallflow Meter

Hall Flow Meter is designed according to International Norm ISO 4490-1978. It is used to determine the flowing property of metallic powder by standard Funnel Method. The flowing property of metallic powder is determined by the time taken by 50 gram of metallic powder to pass standard funnel in specific diameter.

Microscope

It is used to see the micro structure of powders and Bimetal strips upto 45x
